Sometimes relationships come to an end when nobody really wants them to...

Would I be making a fool of myself if I asked you for a dance;
would you laugh in my face and tell your friends;
if I invited you to dinner in my favourite restaurant
would you turn me down and tell me I offend;

or would you look at me with those big blue eyes and say the magic word;
would you lift your head and give me just a smile;
would you hesitate just like I’ve seen you do with other guys;
would you say the answer’s “yes” just one more time.

Would you prefer me to just walk away and pretend that we never were friends;
is that what you want me to do for you;
if I promise I’ll behave myself and let you live your life
would you still tell me that our romance is through;

or would you look at me with those big blue eyes and say the magic word;
would you lift your head and give me just a smile;
would you hesitate just like I’ve seen you do with other guys;
would you say the answer’s “yes” just one more time.

When you said we had to part; that there was someone else;
you broke my heart in two so easily;
but now I know you’ve not been seeing anybody new,
so is there still a chance for you and me?
